Haute Maurienne Ski Tour, Easter 2009
~ Sunday, 19th April 2009The Haute Maurienne is a beautiful part of the French Alps. It is situated at the eastern end of the Vanoise National Park, bordering the Gran Paradiso National Park in Italy. The absence of ski lifts and the hordes make it attractive to wildlife.
The mountains here provide some fantastic ski touring in the winter. The summits reach 3600 metres, the glaciers are extensive and the travelling from hut to hut is superb.
This Easter we had most of the area to ourselves. The snow was good for the most part, but a heavy fall during the week provided a challenge for our descent to the valley at the end of the week.
The Eagles ski club team, of Duncan, Helen, Stefan, John, Chris and Mike all worked hard to make this challenging week really enjoyable and successful.
Many thanks for your efforts.
